PC wire and PC Strand
Huayongxin is one of the few world producers of PC wire and PC strand lines for low relaxation concrete reinforcement.
In the context of construction and concrete reinforcement, both PC wire and PC strand are materials used to add tensile strength to concrete structures. However, they also have many differences.
PC wire lines:
PC wire is composed of a single wire. It is usually available in diameters ranging from 4mm to 8mm. The wire is manufactured with a specific level of pre-stress, which means it is already under tension before being embedded in the concrete. This pre-stressing allows the concrete to withstand tensile forces that may occur during use. PC wires are commonly used in various precast concrete elements, such as concrete poles, railway sleepers, and concrete pipes.
PC strand:
PC strand is a similar product of PC wire but it consists of several PC wires twisted together to form a single strand. The most common types of PC strands have 7 wires (7-wire strand) or 19 wires (19-wire strand) helically wound around a central wire. PC strands are available in larger diameters, usually from 9.5mm to 15.7mm. PC strand is used as a reinforcement product for concrete beams and precast concrete structures. PC strand provides higher tensile strength and is commonly used in larger concrete structures like bridges, high-rise buildings, and foundation slabs. The strands are tensioned and anchored to transfer forces and induce pre-compression in the concrete, making it more resistant to bending and cracking under load. Due to its larger cross-sectional area and multiple wires, PC strand provides higher tensile strength and is commonly used in larger concrete structures like bridges, high-rise buildings, and foundation slabs. The strands are tensioned and anchored to transfer forces and induce pre-compression in the concrete, making it more resistant to bending and cracking under load.
